Most Common Reasons for False Positives With Originality

If you know that an article was produced by a human but Originality gives it a high AI score, this is a false positive

False positives happen in about 1.56% of cases of AI detector false positives

This article will explain the most common false positives and how to avoid them

Lowering Your False Positive Rate

You can lower your rate of false positives by:

Making sure that no tools were used to generate, edit, or plan your content. Every tool is powered by AI and will increase our AI score. Even if you rewrite content, or planned the content yourself, or an AI only did the editing… it will still raise our AI score
Avoiding software like Grammarly, ChatGPT, Quillbot, Microsoft Word Editor, or other tools
Scanning as much of the content as possible (instead of only scanning a paragraph, or the intro, or conclusion, or etc)
Avoiding formulaic content. (intros, conclusions, recipes, works cited pages)
Using our Chrome extension to "watch a writer write". It allows you to see the edit history of a Google Doc and run scans at each point along the edit history. You can see how the AI score changes over time

Originality.ai In Multiple Languages: How To Use Multi Language AI Detection

To scan in any of these languages, you can go to Start New Scan and write or paste the content in the supported language.

Click on the tab next to "AI check", you will see a box that allows you to choose what model you will be using

If you are scanning in a Non-English language, this will probably change to the Multi Language model by default. If not, please manually change it to the Multi Language option by clicking and selecting Multi Language

You can click the Scan Now button above the scan box and your scan should be ready.

How To Cancel Your Monthly Subscription

You can cancel your monthly subscription at any time. Once you cancel, your monthly credits and features will be available until the end of the current subscription. For example: You started your subscription on November 5th and cancel it soon after. Your subscription will be active until December 4th.

You can cancel your subscription here and go to Your Current plan, then by clicking on "cancel your subscription".

You'll see a short cancel survey after you click the cancel button. This just helps us know how we can improve the product for you (and might have some interesting ideas for you)

Your subscription will be canceled after finishing the survey and clicking the "Confirm and Cancel" button. If you don't see this button, you haven't finished the survey. You can open it up again or contact us at support (the chatbox on the bottom right) and we will cancel for you :)

You won't be billed again unless it's initiated by you. Be sure to uncheck Credit Topup so you won't be billed if your balance is low

Question 5

How Many Words Does A Credit Scan?

Each credit scans between 50 and 100 words.

When you go to start a scan you will see two boxes that are checked by default: Detect AI and Check Plagiarism & Readability

When both of these are checked, each credit will scan up to 50 words. Meaning if you're scanning 49 words, it will cost 1 credit. If you're scanning 51 words, it will cost 2 credits

When only one of these boxes is checked--either Detect AI or Check Plagiarism--then each credit will scan up to 100 words. Meaning if you're scanning 99 words, it will cost 1 credit. If you're scanning 101 words, it will cost 2 credits.

You can see that this scan is for 100 words and has both options checked. It will cost 2 credits--50 words per credit:

What If I'm Barely Over The Limit?

Each credit can scan a maximum of 50 to 100 words and going over this limit will result in using another credit.

How To Share Your Scan With Originality.ai

Originality.ai allows you to share the contents and results of your scan.

You can share your scan by going to Scan History.

On this page, you will see a list of all your content scans. To share the results of a scan, you can click the Share Scan icon. This will automatically copy the link of your scan.

Note that anyone who has this link will be able to open your scan. You scan will not go on search engines or be counted as plagiarism if it's scanned again.
